KANO, Nigeria – The Kano State Government approves the promotion of 16,634 teaching and non-teaching staff across its 44 local government areas, signalling renewed investment in public education and workers’ welfare.
The decision was disclosed on Wednesday by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
According to SUBEB Chairman Yusuf Kabir, the promotions cover staff whose eligibility falls between July 2024 and July 2025.
“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved these promotions alongside all associated financial entitlements,” Kabir says.
He adds that the payment of outstanding benefits ensures beneficiaries enjoy the full gains of the exercise, addressing long-standing concerns over delayed promotions in the sector.
Education stakeholders view the move as a morale booster for teachers and administrative staff critical to basic education delivery.
Kabir urges beneficiaries to reciprocate through discipline, professionalism and renewed commitment, aligning with the administration’s drive to improve learning outcomes across Kano.
