KANO, Nigeria – The Kano State Police Command has intercepted suspected intoxicants valued at over N82 million during an operation in Rimin Auzinawa Quarters, Kano.
The state Police spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a statement on Saturday, said the operation followed credible intelligence on September 20, 2025, at about 1pm.
According to him, officers trailed a suspicious vehicle to a residence in the area, cordoned off the house, and arrested a 19-year-old suspect, Usman Umar.
A search of the premises led to the recovery of 603 packets of suspected Tramadol tablets containing 60,300 pieces valued at N60.3m, and 299 packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules consisting of 44,850 pieces valued at N22.4m. The total value of the drugs was put at N82.7m.
“The suspect is currently helping investigate to uncover the network behind this illegal trade and bring all culprits to justice,” Kiyawa said.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended residents whose timely information aided the operation and urged the public to continue supporting the police with credible intelligence.
