KANO, Nigeria – Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has unveiled new plans for school feeding, healthcare, and foreign investment following Kano’s participation at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80) in New York.
Represented by Emir Sanusi II and Kan-Invest DG Muhammad Halliru, the governor’s delegation held talks with global partners, including Kenyan entrepreneur Wawira Njiru, founder of Food4Education.
The discussions focused on accessing African Development Bank funding for feeding programmes and boosting Kano’s economic potential.
Governor Yusuf in a statement on Wednesday said the engagements demonstrate Kano’s ambition to become Nigeria’s leading investment hub. “A five-year multi-sector investment plan will soon be unveiled to attract capital and expand revenue,” he announced.
Kano’s delegation joined high-profile sessions, including the “Unstoppable Africa” summit and the Gates Foundation’s Goalkeepers event.
The federal government has also said Nigeria aims to expand the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme to reach 50 million children by 2026.
