JIGAWA, Nigeria – The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved over ₦1.127 billion for perimeter fencing in 15 public schools to enhance safety and protect educational assets.
Governor Umar Namadi’s spokesperson, Hamish Gimel,in a statement said the move aligns with the administration’s goal to provide a secure and conducive learning environment.
The Council also approved ₦2.37 billion for constructing modern markets in Shuwarin, Maigatari, and Hadejia to stimulate trade and job creation.
To empower youth, ₦1.33 billion was allocated for 200 customised mini rice milling machines at the Limawa Multi-Skill Acquisition Centre in Dutse. “These investments are about jobs, security, and opportunity,” the statement read.
Additionally, ₦405.56 million was approved for 5,700 tissue-cultured date palm seedlings under the Jigawa State Date Palm Plantation Project, aimed at boosting agriculture and rural employment.
The government further sanctioned ₦1.99 billion for 1,185 motorcycles for J-Agro Extension Workers and ₦338.44 million for 350 solar-powered streetlights in semi-urban areas.
