ABUJA, Nigeria — The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a fresh extension of the deadline for the completion of 2025 admissions into public universities, shifting the cut-off date from October 31, 2025, to November 17, 2025.
The extension, confirmed in a statement on Sunday by JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin, follows appeals and recent developments affecting the admission process nationwide.
Benjamin explained that the decision was informed by two major factors: A court order which temporarily halted the conclusion of the 2025/2026 admissions list, only lifted on October 28, 2025, and the accreditation of 229 new academic programmes in 37 universities by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on October 29, 2025, requiring fresh admission scheduling.
“To ensure fairness, inclusiveness, and expanded access in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, public universities now have until Monday, November 17, 2025, to complete the admission process,” the statement read.
JAMB, however, warned that the new deadline is final and will not be extended further.
The Board acknowledged the “zeal and diligence” of universities that complied with the original deadline and urged institutions to fast-track processing of candidates on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
The extension underscores JAMB’s effort to manage judicial delays while maintaining a uniform academic calendar.
