ABUJA, Nigeria – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) temporarily suspends the selection of examination towns in Ekiti State for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
In a statement on Tuesday, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, says the measure is necessary to restructure towns for closer proximity to candidates and ease transportation challenges during exams.
The 2026 UTME registration had begun when anomalies were detected in the configuration of towns in Ekiti, prompting an immediate suspension of town selection until adjustments were completed.
“The Board regrets any inconvenience caused to candidates and is working swiftly to resolve the issue,” the statement reads, noting that it monitors operations closely to ensure candidates are treated fairly and with dignity.
Once the restructuring is complete, candidates will be able to select towns that are more accessible, improving the overall examination experience.
