ZAMFARA, Nigeria – The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission says it has tracked 35 Federal Government projects worth ₦4.6 billion across Zamfara State to ensure accountability and value for money.
Speaking in Gusau, monitoring team leader Dr Murtala Bankano says the exercise is carried out under the Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Initiative, in collaboration with professional bodies and the Budget Office.
The projects cut across education, health, water supply, power, agriculture and empowerment, reflecting broad federal intervention in the state. ICPC Tracks ₦4.6bn Federal Projects in Zamfara
Bankano says inspectors identify varying levels of deficiencies at some sites and order contractors to return immediately for corrective work.
“All contractors with issues must go back to site to meet approved specifications,” he says.
The commission awaits a detailed compliance report from the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors to determine adherence to standards.
Bankano explains that the initiative is designed to ensure public projects are properly executed and deliver tangible benefits to citizens.
