JOS, Nigeria – Tension has gripped Plateau State after gunmen killed two youths and a 13-year-old herder in separate attacks.
The ambush occurred Wednesday evening along the Barkin Ladi–Dorowa Babuje road, shortly after the victims attended a community security meeting.
President of the Berom Youths Moulders Association, Solomon Dalyop, told Africa Health Report on Thursday that the killings aim to “discourage cooperation with security agencies.”
He alleged that Fulani armed groups were behind the attacks, citing rising clashes between farmers and herders.
In a separate incident, gunmen invaded Inzon community, killing herder Abubakar Wada, and slaughtering 36 cows. Miyetti Allah chairman Ibrahim Babayo condemned the attack and urged calm, saying, “It was an unprovoked and cruel act.”
Army spokesman, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja confirmed that troops were investigating. “We’re monitoring the situation closely,” he said.
The renewed violence has reignited fears of reprisal clashes in Plateau’s volatile districts, threatening fragile peace efforts.
