GOMBE, Nigeria – Governors of Gombe and Adamawa states have strengthened inter-state cooperation through joint infrastructure and energy projects aimed at boosting regional integration and economic growth.
The partnership was highlighted during a visit by Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to Gombe, where both leaders commissioned key road projects and inspected ongoing developments in Balanga Local Government Area.
Among the projects commissioned is the 33-kilometre Ture–Sabon Layi Awak–Dogon Ruwa–Gelengu–Balanga Gari road, expected to improve connectivity across rural communities.
Fintiri described the projects as transformative, noting that improved road networks would enhance trade, mobility and social interaction.
“These roads will open up rural economies, connect our people, and deepen social and commercial interactions,” he said.
Both states also unveiled plans to expand cross-border road networks linking Adamawa and Gombe communities.
Beyond infrastructure, the governors inspected the Talasse solar off-grid project, designed to provide one megawatt of electricity to over 30 communities.
Officials said the project would serve about 6,000 households, many of which have been without electricity for more than a decade.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya stressed that regional collaboration remains essential for sustainable development.
“No state can develop in isolation. Collaboration is the pathway to shared prosperity,” he said.
The leaders also commissioned a Model Almajiri School aimed at integrating traditional and formal education systems.
