Femi Gbajabiamila
LAGOS, Nigeria – The Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, has sponsored a free medical outreach at Agboyi Ori Omi, an island community in Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.
The outreach, which began on Monday, was organised in collaboration with Lagos State Health District 2 and the Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps, offering services such as oral care, eye tests, blood pressure checks, TB and HIV screening, and free medication.
Represented by Lagos lawmaker Desmond Elliot, Gbajabiamila reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to improving healthcare access.
“We are here for on-the-spot diagnosis and treatment. This partnership with the Lagos State Government is laudable. People should take full advantage of it,” he said.
Lukmon Lawal, Special Adviser on Budget and Finance to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, praised Gbajabiamila’s dedication to grassroots health improvement, noting the outreach would extend to Ketu and Ikorodu.
“Bringing healthcare to forgotten communities like this is commendable. With quality health, every other sector benefits,” Lawal said.
Permanent Secretary, Lagos Health District 2, Dr. Dayo Lajide, described the outreach as vital, given the community’s limited access.
“Over 41,000 people live on this island—it’s a big win for us,” she stated.
Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Chairman, Mrs. Adetola Abubakar, thanked Gbajabiamila and commended the Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps for its humanitarian service and commitment to global health equity.
