Nigeria First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu
ABUJA, Nigeria – Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, calls on citizens to actively support renewable energy adoption, describing clean energy as essential for human survival and environmental protection.
She made the call in Abuja on Monday to mark International Clean Energy Day, urging Nigerians to adopt sustainable technologies amid climate change and energy access challenges.
“Renewable energy is no longer optional. It is essential for survival, good health and responsible environmental stewardship,” Tinubu says.
She stresses that progress depends on collective action involving government, communities and individuals.
“Protecting our environment is a shared responsibility. Only united efforts can deliver lasting results,” she adds.
The First Lady highlights Nigeria’s growing energy demand and the need for cleaner alternatives to reduce environmental damage while expanding access for underserved populations.
“Let us work together to build a greener and healthier planet for all,” she says, wishing Nigerians a meaningful International Clean Energy Day 2026.
The International Day of Clean Energy, established by the United Nations, promotes awareness and accelerates the transition to inclusive, sustainable energy systems worldwide.
In Nigeria, the observance reinforces ongoing national efforts to expand solar power, reduce reliance on fossil fuels and align development goals with climate commitments.
Energy experts say leadership advocacy plays a key role in shaping public attitudes and encouraging household-level adoption of renewable technologies.
