Newly appointed Chief Medical Director of FETHI, Professor Kolawole Ogundipe
EKITI, Nigeria – Health workers at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI) are welcoming the appointment of Professor Kolawole Ogundipe as Chief Medical Director, expressing confidence in his leadership.
President Bola Tinubu approved Ogundipe’s appointment last week, ending months of interim administration at the tertiary health facility.
In a joint statement released Sunday, the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) at FETHI described the appointment as recognition of the professor’s professional competence.
JOHESU Chairman Oje Oladeji and Secretary John Akinola say the union believes the new CMD will strengthen healthcare delivery within the hospital.
“We are confident that your wealth of experience and wisdom will elevate healthcare standards and inspire excellence in service delivery at FETHI,” the statement says.
The union also urges Ogundipe to transform the hospital into a destination for quality healthcare services in Ekiti State and beyond.
Ogundipe, a consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon, previously serves as Chief Medical Director of Afe Babalola University Multi-System Hospital.
He succeeds Professor Adekunle Ajayi, who leaves office in December 2025 after completing two terms.
Since Ajayi’s departure, the hospital has been managed by Dr Olagoke Erinmope, Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, who serves as acting CMD.
Health workers say they are ready to support the new leadership to strengthen patient care, research, and medical training at the institution.
