ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is set to begin computer-based promotion examinations for more than 8,000 civil servants on Tuesday, marking one of the administration’s biggest transitions to digital assessment systems.
Announcing the exercise on Monday in Abuja, Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, said the examinations will run for five days at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Study Centre along Kubwa Road. “This week, over 8,000 FCTA workers from 165 cadres will sit fully computer-based promotion examinations,” Ezeh said. “We are deepening digital processes in line with the minister’s directive.”
He explained that the exercise, which ends on Saturday, follows Minister Nyesom Wike’s approval to fast-track the 2024 promotion cycle as part of efforts to motivate the workforce.
“The FCT Minister approved the quick conclusion of the 2024 promotion exercise to ensure no cadre is left behind,” he added.
Ezeh said the administration is committed to institutionalising CBT as the permanent standard for promotion assessments, insisting that digital testing ensures transparency, efficiency and fairness.
“This is now a permanent feature of our system. The era of manual promotion exams is gone,” he stated.
