ENUGU, Nigeria – The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has suspended three students of its Faculty of Law for two academic sessions over alleged examination malpractice.
The affected students — Isong Ugwu, Gad Nwosu and Roseline Nnamani — are barred from the university until June 24, 2028, following a disciplinary process by the institution.
The university Registrar, Ambrose Ugwu, disclosed this in separate memos issued to the students in Enugu on Monday and made available to journalists.
According to the Registrar, the disciplinary action followed the approval of recommendations by the Senate Examinations Malpractice Committee.
The recommendations were approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, acting on behalf of the university’s Senate.
The suspension took effect on June 25, 2026, and will run for two academic sessions.
The Registrar directed the affected students to immediately leave the university campus and surrender any institution-owned property in their possession to their respective Heads of Department.
He also said the students’ sponsors and the National Universities Commission (NUC) had been formally notified of the disciplinary action.
The university, however, cleared another Faculty of Law student, Goodluck Iwuamadi, who had also faced an allegation of examination malpractice.
Ugwu said the Senate Examinations Malpractice Committee found in Iwuamadi’s favour after reviewing the case.
The three suspended students will be required to apply for readmission after completing their suspension in June 2028.
The latest disciplinary action underscores the university’s enforcement of its rules on examination conduct and academic integrity.
