Governor Monday Okpebholo
BENIN CITY, Nigeria – The Edo State Government assures residents, returnees and tourists of adequate security and a welcoming environment throughout the Yuletide season.
The reassurance comes from the Edo State Diaspora Agency and the Edo State Tourism Agency during a joint press briefing on Saturday.
Tourism Agency Director-General Lady Vivian Elabor credits Governor Monday Okpebholo with prioritising security, saying recent investments have strengthened public confidence and safety across the state.
“Visitors can enjoy the festive season without fear. Measures are firmly in place to protect lives and property,” Elabor says.
Diaspora Agency Director-General Dr Loretta Ogboro-Okor says security personnel and infrastructure have been deployed along major routes and tourist centres to ensure smooth movement during the holidays.
On diaspora engagement, Ogboro-Okor reveals that a newly launched Diaspora Help Desk records over 20,000 interactions within two weeks, supporting investment, documentation and reintegration requests.
Both agencies describe the Yuletide as an ideal period to experience Edo’s culture, hospitality and improved security.
