ABUJA, Nigeria – The Ministry of Defence Nigeria pledges full support for partnerships with the National Space Research and Development Agency to harness space technology against terrorism, banditry, and other security threats.
The commitment follows a courtesy visit by NASRDA, led by Director-General Dr Matthew Adepoju, to the ministry’s headquarters at Ship House. Dr Adepoju highlights space technology’s importance in monitoring vast areas, regardless of weather or time, and announces plans to launch four additional satellites to enhance surveillance, border oversight, and rapid threat response.
General Christopher Musa (rtd), Minister of Defence, welcomes the engagement, praising NASRDA’s contributions to defence operations. “Aligning NASRDA with the Defence Space Administration maximises resources and strengthens national security,” he says.
The discussions focus on leveraging indigenous space capabilities to modernise Nigeria’s defence architecture and address persistent security challenges across the country.
