BAUCHI, Nigeria – The Bauchi State Government vaccinates about 3.7 million children during its 2025 measles and rubella immunisation campaign, significantly reducing the risk of outbreaks.
The Information Officer of the Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Board, Ibrahim Sani, discloses this on Monday, saying the exercise targets children aged nine to 59 months and exceeds the projected population. “The campaign records full coverage across the state,” Sani says, describing it as a major boost to disease prevention.
He adds that other child survival interventions achieve over 90 per cent coverage, while access to reproductive health and family planning services continues to improve. The state commits ₦50 million in 2025 to procure family planning commodities.
On infrastructure, Sani says 124 primary healthcare facilities are rehabilitated under the World Bank-supported IMPACT Project, at a cost of ₦7.1 billion, despite windstorm damage to six centres.
He also reveals that the state approves ₦872 million for the 2025 Primary Healthcare MoU Basket Fund to sustain reforms.
