ABUJA, Nigeria – Bauchi State has emerged as Nigeria’s least food-inflation-affected state, recording a modest 2.8% year-on-year food inflation rate in September 2025, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
In its latest Consumer Price Index report, released Thursday, the Bureau said Niger (8.4%), Anambra (8.4%), and Benue (8.6%) followed closely, reflecting relative food price stability amid national economic pressures.
Other states with slower food inflation include Akwa Ibom (9.0%), Ondo (10.6%), Abuja (11.0%), Plateau (11.2%), Gombe (11.7%), and Jigawa (12.1%).
“These variations show that while some states experience slower price movements, others continue to feel sharper inflationary pressures due to logistics, insecurity, and weather factors,” NBS stated.
The Bureau noted that despite national inflationary challenges, local food supply improvements and community farming initiatives have contributed to easing price spikes in certain states.
