BAUCHI, Nigeria – Bauchi State immunises 3.7 million children during the 2025 measles and rubella vaccination campaign, achieving full coverage and sharply reducing outbreak risks.
The Information Officer of the State Primary Healthcare Development Board, Ibrahim Sani, confirms the success on Monday, saying the campaign targets children aged nine to 59 months.
“The exercise achieves 100 per cent coverage, surpassing projections,” Sani says.
He links the outcome to strong political commitment and coordinated public health planning, noting that other child survival programmes also exceed 90 per cent coverage.
In 2025, the state invests ₦50 million in family planning commodities, expanding access to reproductive health services and improving maternal outcomes.
Infrastructure upgrades also accelerate, with 124 primary healthcare facilities rehabilitated under the World Bank-supported IMPACT Project at a cost of ₦7.1 billion.
The state further approves ₦872 million for PHC reforms and trains over 1,290 health workers statewide.
“With sustained investment and a strengthened workforce, Bauchi is emerging as a model for primary healthcare delivery,” Sani says.
