LAGOS, Nigeria – The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set a national revenue benchmark, generating ₦2.4 trillion between January and October 2025, surpassing the total collected in 2024 with two months still remaining in the fiscal year.
The Command also posted an unprecedented ₦304 billion in October alone — the highest single-month revenue ever recorded by any Customs formation in Nigeria.
Public Relations Officer Superintendent Tunde Ayagbalo confirmed the figures in a statement issued Monday, describing the performance as a testament to improved compliance and strengthened enforcement.
Customs Area Controller Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba said the achievement signals the Command’s determination to drive efficiency and transparency. “I commend my officers and our compliant stakeholders for this milestone, but this is not our final destination,” he stated. “We are just beginning a new phase of revenue optimisation under our watch.”
To accelerate cargo clearance and reduce port delays, Apapa is preparing to launch a new Drive-Through Scanning Regime capable of scanning up to 150 containers per hour directly from the quayside. Oshoba described the system as “revolutionary for maritime logistics in West Africa.”
Newly promoted officers have undergone intensive technical training to operate the scanners, aligning with Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi’s digital modernisation agenda.
The Command has also strengthened revenue assurance through enhanced HS code audits, Demand Notices, and a streamlined One-Stop-Shop clearance process. Oshoba reaffirmed “zero tolerance” for duty evasion and under-declaration.
