Governor Soludo presenting the 2026 Anambra budget to lawmakers
ANAMBRA, Nigeria – Governor Chukwuma Soludo, on Tuesday presented a ₦757 billion 2026 budget estimate to the Anambra State House of Assembly, framing it as the next phase of his administration’s long-term transformation agenda.
Titled “Changing Gears 3.0: Solution Continues,” the proposal channels an overwhelming ₦595.3 billion — 79 per cent of total spending — to capital projects, including infrastructure expansion, urban renewal, public utilities, and socio-economic development initiatives. Recurrent expenditure stands at ₦161.6 billion, representing 21 per cent.
Soludo said the spending plan reflects strong growth ambition, noting the 24.1 per cent increase from the ₦606.99 billion approved for 2025.
“Despite 2025 being an election year, we maintained focus and achieved over 60 percent budget performance,” Soludo told lawmakers. “The 2026 framework is designed to accelerate growth across all sectors. No borrowing will be done to fund consumption. Every kobo will be accounted for and deployed for maximum impact.”
The budget shows a ₦225.7 billion deficit, which the governor said would be financed through public–private partnerships, improved internally generated revenue, concessions, and support from financial institutions.
