ABUJA, Nigeria – Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, marks the 2026 Children’s Day celebration by hosting disability advocate and actress Dera Osadebe at the Federal Ministry of Education headquarters in Abuja.
The ministry brings together children from different schools and backgrounds in an event aimed at amplifying children’s voices and promoting inclusive education nationwide.
Speaking during the celebration, Alausa says Children’s Day serves as a reminder of the nation’s responsibility to protect children’s future through education and equal opportunity.
“Today is about celebrating the strength, creativity, and limitless potential of our children,” the minister states.
“Every Nigerian child deserves to feel seen, heard, encouraged, and supported to achieve their dreams regardless of background or circumstance.”
Alausa commends Osadebe for advocating inclusion and equal opportunities for children living with disabilities.
“Dera’s courage and passion reflect the resilience and brilliance that exist in millions of Nigerian children,” he adds.
The minister says the event aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises child development and inclusive education.
He encourages children to believe in themselves, develop their talents and remain committed to learning.
“Children are at the heart of our nation’s future, and we must continue to create opportunities that allow them to learn, grow, and succeed,” Alausa says.
The ministry reiterates its commitment to protecting children’s rights and expanding inclusive education across Nigeria.
