Governor, Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno
AKWA IBOM, Nigeria – The Akwa Ibom State Government begins the full implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy across the state, effective January 1, 2026, in a move aimed at blocking revenue leakages and strengthening fiscal transparency.
Governor Umo Bassey Eno announces the rollout during a statewide New Year broadcast, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to accountability, prudent resource management and efficient public finance administration.
In a statement issued on Friday and signed by the Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, the government says the announcement reinforces an earlier directive by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, mandating strict compliance by all Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
According to the directive, all Internally Generated Revenue must be paid directly into the state-designated Treasury Single Account, while all government payments are to be processed exclusively through the AkwaRemit platform. MDAs are also required to conduct regular reconciliation of TSA transactions.
The government describes the TSA as a core pillar of its financial management reforms, designed to improve oversight, eliminate inefficiencies and ensure optimal use of public funds.
Governor Eno directs all MDAs, parastatals and state-owned institutions to publicise the policy widely and ensure full compliance.
“The TSA framework strengthens public trust and guarantees that every naira due to the state is properly accounted for,” the statement notes.
Officials say the policy positions Akwa Ibom for improved budget execution, stronger investor confidence and sustainable economic governance.
