KANO, Nigeria – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted over alleged criminal conspiracy, abuse of office and diversion of public funds.
The anti-corruption agency announces the development in a public notice issued on Saturday as investigations continue into the management of funds under the former ministry.
According to the notice signed by EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, Farouq is wanted in connection with alleged financial misconduct linked to humanitarian and social investment programmes during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
“The public is hereby notified that Sadiya Umar Farouq is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in an alleged case of criminal conspiracy, abuse of office and diversion of public funds,” the statement says.
The commission identifies Farouq, 52, as an indigene of Zamfara State and lists her last known address as Maitama district in Abuja.
The EFCC urges members of the public with useful information about her whereabouts to contact any of its offices nationwide or report to the nearest police station.
The agency lists offices in Lagos, Kano, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Enugu, Ibadan, Benin and Abuja among designated contact centres.
