Foreign Affairs Minister, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu
ABUJA, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs, following the resignation of Yusuf Tuggar.
The appointment, announced by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday forms part of efforts to reposition Nigeria’s foreign policy for stronger global engagement.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu previously served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and brings extensive diplomatic experience to the role.
The president also nominated Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, pending Senate confirmation.
Enikanolaiye, a career diplomat with over three decades of service, has held postings in Addis Ababa, London, Ottawa and New Delhi, and most recently served as Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs.
According to the presidency, the appointments are aimed at strengthening economic diplomacy, enhancing regional stability and advancing Nigeria’s strategic global partnerships.
Analysts say the leadership change comes at a critical time as Nigeria seeks to expand its influence in international affairs while navigating complex geopolitical dynamics.
