BAYELSA, Nigeria – Former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo inaugurates the 6.72-kilometre Agbura Oxbow Lake Road, improving access across riverine communities.
The road connects key areas including Swali Market, Nembe and surrounding communities, while enhancing access to Federal University Otuoke.
Osinbajo praises Governor Douye Diri for delivering on campaign promises.
“This project shows commitment. Delivering what was promised is rare,” he says.
Highlighting its significance, he adds, “This road opens access to vital communities and economic hubs.”
Diri describes the project as part of broader efforts to ensure inclusive development across difficult terrains.
“Development must reach every part of Bayelsa,” the governor states.
The project, first launched in 2022, is expected to ease transportation challenges and stimulate economic activities.
Infrastructure experts say improved connectivity could enhance trade, mobility and access to education in the region.
Residents express optimism that the road will reduce travel time and boost local livelihoods.
