ZAMFARA, Nigeria – Armed bandits abducted at least 150 residents from Kurfa Ɗanya and Kurfan Magaji in Bukkuyum Local Government Area during a coordinated midnight attack on Thursday.
Lawmaker Suleiman Abubakar confirmed the incident, highlighting that residents fled to safety at the local government headquarters. He called on the Federal Government to intensify security measures in the North-West, noting that the region faces a growing crisis similar to the insurgency in the North-East.
Despite ongoing military operations and peace initiatives, banditry remains a persistent threat, with rural communities like Gumi and Bukkuyum particularly vulnerable due to nearby forest hideouts.
