ILORIN, Nigeria – Armed bandits abduct eight worshippers during a Sunday service at an ECWA church in Omugo, Oro-Ago community, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, triggering fresh security concerns across Kwara South.
Local sources confirm that three victims have been rescued through coordinated operations by security forces, while efforts intensify to free the remaining captives.
The attack follows a prior alert issued by security coordinator Zubair Olaitan, who warns of impending threats across Ifelodun, Irepodun, and Isin LGAs.
Reacting, the state government condemns the incident, describing the targeting of a place of worship as “cowardly.”
Commissioner for Communications Bolanle Olukoju says: “We task security agencies to ensure the rescue of remaining victims and arrest of perpetrators.”
