NYSC Probes Corps Member Death in Ogun, Investigates Staff Link

ABEOKUTA, Nigeria – The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) launches an investigation into the death of a corps member in Ogun State, confirming a staff member is under probe.
The deceased, Victoria Ariyo, served in Abeokuta South before her death, now under investigation by the Ogun State Police Command.
NYSC spokesperson Caroline Embu on Saturday said the incident is “deeply distressing” and confirms a suspect is in custody.
Police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi adds that the State Criminal Investigation Department is conducting a full probe.
Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of death, amid unverified reports linking the case to health complications or personal relationships.
The NYSC urges the public to avoid speculation. “Due process must be allowed to take its course,” the agency says.
The incident heightens concern following another recent corps member death in the same area.
