FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike
ABUJA, Nigeria – Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has assured diplomats of a secure environment in Abuja as Ireland inaugurates its new embassy.
The announcement comes on Thursday during a Saint Patrick’s Day reception marking the opening of Ireland’s diplomatic mission.
“We owe you a duty to create the right environment for you to thrive,” Wike tells members of the diplomatic community.
He says the FCT Administration is committed to improving security and infrastructure to position Abuja as a leading global capital.
Wike also raises concerns over undeveloped embassy plots vulnerable to encroachment, urging diplomatic missions to begin construction promptly.
“The law must take its course… enough is enough,” he says.
Ireland’s Ambassador Peter Ryan is congratulated on the milestone, which signals strengthening bilateral ties.
The event draws international participation, including Irish minister Jack Chambers.
Officials say the new embassy reflects growing cooperation between Nigeria and Ireland.
The development reinforces Abuja’s role as a stable hub for global diplomacy.
