ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Ministry of Education, in partnership with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), has launched a national anti-bullying workshop aimed at creating safer and more inclusive learning environments in Nigerian schools.
The one-day programme, scheduled for Wednesday, 22 July 2026, will bring together pupils, teachers, school administrators and education stakeholders at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja to strengthen efforts to prevent bullying and improve child protection.
The initiative was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday under the direction of the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad.
According to the ministry, the workshop is designed to raise awareness about the effects of bullying on children’s mental health, academic performance and overall wellbeing.
Participants will receive practical guidance on identifying, preventing and responding to bullying while promoting respectful relationships and positive school cultures.
The ministry said the programme forms part of the Federal Government’s broader commitment to protecting learners and ensuring schools remain safe spaces where every child can thrive.
