OYO, Nigeria – Police in Ibadan discover the lifeless body of an unidentified woman with signs of violence, prompting a homicide investigation.
The Oyo State Police Command on Monday said the body was found in a drainage channel near Iwo Road after a report by a passerby.
Police spokesperson Ayanlade Olayinka confirms visible injuries on the victim’s head.
“A preliminary examination suggests possible foul play,” he states.
The body is evacuated to Adeoyo State Hospital mortuary for autopsy, while investigations begin.
Authorities urge families of missing persons to come forward for identification.
“We appeal to the public to provide credible information,” Olayinka adds.
Police say efforts are ongoing to identify suspects and uncover the circumstances surrounding the killing.
