LAGOS, Nigeria – The Federal Character Commission supervises ongoing police recruitment screening in Lagos, pledging fairness and equal opportunity for all applicants.
Federal Commissioner Abdulwasiu Bawa-Allah leads a delegation to the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja, describing the exercise as critical to maintaining equity in federal appointments.
“As the commissioner representing Lagos State, it is my responsibility to ensure indigenes are not denied rightful opportunities,” he says.
The initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s expansion of recruitment from 10,000 to 50,000 constables to strengthen national security.
Lagos Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh welcomes oversight, stressing manpower needs in Nigeria’s most populous city.
“Adequate manpower is critical to effective policing,” he says, assuring that merit, discipline and integrity will guide the process.
