JALINGO, Nigeria – The Society for Family Health (SFH) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery in Taraba State as the government embraces a unified budgeting system to close long-standing financing gaps.
In a statement on Tuesday, SFH confirmed its participation in a three-day Annual Operational Plan workshop in Jalingo, convened by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare under the Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) programme.
The workshop brought together key stakeholders to harmonise the budgets and activities of the State Ministry of Health and its agencies.
The exercise was anchored on the principle of “one plan, one budget, one report, one conversation, and one voice,” with representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs also in attendance.
Executive Secretary of the Taraba State Primary Health Care Development Agency,Dr. Nuhu Tukura, hailed the reform as a breakthrough for the state’s health financing.
“For the first time, Taraba will operate under a single, bottom-up budget process that reflects the real needs of the people, moving away from fragmented departmental plans,” he said. “If sustained, this reform has the potential to transform healthcare delivery in the state.”
