KATSINA, Nigeria – The Katsina State Government signs a ₦155 billion agreement with COSMOS Residential City Nigeria Limited to deliver 3,750 agro-residential housing units, combining mass housing with food production and youth employment.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda in a statement on Friday said, “This agreement reflects careful planning, due diligence and mutual trust,” Radda says. “We are committed to honouring every obligation to ensure real value for our people.”
Under the memorandum of understanding, 2,500 housing units will rise in the Kankia Local Government Area, while 1,250 units will be built in Radda Local Government Area. The project is expected to be completed within 16 months to two years.
Each housing unit will integrate backyard fish farming and vegetable gardening, allowing beneficiaries to generate sustainable income alongside home ownership.
“This programme empowers youths and small families,” he says. “Beneficiaries receive a fully furnished home, farming training and guaranteed market access.”
According to the governor, participants are projected to earn up to ₦200,000 monthly, while saving between ₦50,000 and ₦70,000 as part of a compulsory plan to offset investor costs. Ownership of the homes and farms will transfer fully within three to five years.
