ABUJA, Nigeria – Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has unveiled a nationwide preventive health campaign designed to strengthen the wellbeing and operational readiness of police personnel across the country. The initiative, titled “Know Your Numbers,” was announced in Abuja during the maiden National Conference of Heads of Police Medical Facilities.
In a statement shared on the Nigeria Police Force’s official X handle and obtained by Africa Health Report, the IGP said the campaign reflects the Force’s renewed commitment to officer welfare, describing wellness as “non-negotiable” to national security. “The wellbeing of our personnel remains the backbone of operational readiness. It occupies a central place in my policing vision,” he said.
The announcement also highlighted the expansion of Police Medical Services, which was upgraded to a full Directorate in August 2025. The Directorate now oversees one of Africa’s largest law-enforcement medical networks, comprising 164 hospitals, clinics and medical posts nationwide.
The “Know Your Numbers” campaign urges officers to routinely monitor vital health indicators including blood pressure, blood sugar, pulse rate and HIV/hepatitis status. Egbetokun said the programme is aimed at saving lives and building a healthier, more resilient Police Force.
