Kano Governor, Abba Yusuf
KANO, Nigeria – The Kano State Government has debunked viral rumours alleging an impending security breakdown, assuring residents that the state remains peaceful, stable and fully under control.
The clarification followed a State Security Council meeting held on 30 November, during which Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf received a full briefing from all service commanders on ongoing operations.
In a statement on Monday, Director-General of Media and Publicity, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the government had reviewed the supposed alerts circulating on social media and found them to be completely baseless.
“There is no valid or actionable information pointing to any significant security risk in Kano,” the statement said, describing the rumours as false, sensational and intended to create panic.
“Security formations have been briefed, strategically deployed and are working round the clock to neutralise any potential breach,” Bature added.
Residents were urged to ignore unverified alerts, refrain from circulating misleading posts and continue their normal activities.
The government emphasised that Kano remains committed to safeguarding lives and property.
“Kano will not succumb to fear, misinformation or attempts to destabilise its peace,” the statement concluded.
