LAGOS, Nigeria – Pistis Foundation has unveiled a newly built and fully equipped trauma ward at the Hospital for Trauma & Surgery, Lekki, Lagos, to expand healthcare access for underserved communities.
The ward, donated by the foundation, was inaugurated Monday by the foundation’s board chairman, Godman Akinlabi, marking the launch of its 2025 Medical and Surgical Outreach—a five-day free healthcare programme for low-income families.
Akinlabi said the initiative reflects the organisation’s mission to bridge healthcare gaps and strengthen continuity of care for vulnerable groups.
“This year, our focus is not just on treatment, but continuity of care,” Akinlabi said. “Beyond the outreach, patients will receive follow-up support through our partner facility here. We are building a health access pipeline that ensures long-term well-being.”
The Lagos State Government has pledged to complement such private-sector efforts. In October, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu reiterated his commitment to expand healthcare subsidies and community insurance enrolment, targeting 15 per cent coverage for vulnerable populations.
Pistis Foundation has provided over 100,000 free consultations since inception, reinforcing its impact-driven model of healthcare inclusion and partnership.
