EKITI, Nigeria – The Ekiti State Government has begun issuing appointment letters to 1,522 newly recruited junior healthcare workers as part of efforts to address staff shortages and strengthen primary healthcare delivery across the state.

The Chairman of the Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Funke Ogunbunmi, described the recruitment as a significant intervention to improve access to essential health services at the grassroots.

In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, Ogunbunmi commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for approving the recruitment, saying it reflected his administration’s commitment to improving residents’ health and well-being. She said adequate staffing was critical to building a functional and accessible healthcare system, adding that the new personnel would improve the operational capacity of frontline health facilities.

The successful candidates were recruited as Laboratory Assistants, Health Assistants and Health Attendants. According to the agency, the collection of appointment letters began on Wednesday, October 28, at its registry in Ado Ekiti and is scheduled to end on Tuesday, November 3.

Ogunbunmi said the 1,522 candidates were being attended to in batches of 300 daily to ensure an orderly process and proper verification of documents.
