ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced petrol prices at its filling stations in Abuja and Lagos, following a cut in the product’s gantry price by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
NNPCL stations in Abuja and surrounding areas reduced their pump price from ₦1,395 to ₦1,370 per litre on Thursday, October 1, 2026, representing a ₦25 reduction.
In Lagos, the company reduced its price from ₦1,375 to ₦1,360 per litre, a ₦15 decrease.
The reductions followed Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s decision to cut its petrol gantry price by ₦25 per litre to ₦1,325.
MRS filling stations subsequently reduced their petrol pump price to ₦1,370 per litre.
The latest price adjustments come amid increased competition among fuel marketers and refiners in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market.
Separately, NNPCL announced a ₦66 discount on petrol purchases at its stations from October 1 to October 7 to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.
The company said the promotion was intended to commemorate the anniversary and provide customers with a temporary price reduction. “As we celebrate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day, we honour the resilience, strength and diversity that define our great nation,” NNPCL said in a message to customers.
The company said it remained committed to creating value and supporting Nigeria’s economic development as competition and pricing adjustments continue across the downstream petroleum sector.
The latest cuts bring petrol pump prices at NNPCL stations below their previous levels in both Abuja and Lagos, although prices may vary between locations and individual marketers.
