LASEPA Shuts 12 Hotels, Firms, Supermarket Over Environmental Breaches

LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed 12 businesses, including hotels, a supermarket and industrial firms, for repeatedly violating environmental regulations despite several warnings.
The enforcement exercise, carried out in the Ijora Causeway and Apapa areas of Lagos, followed what the agency described as persistent non-compliance with environmental laws.
According to a statement posted on LASEPA’s official X handle, the affected establishments ignored multiple abatement notices and directives issued to address environmental infractions.
The affected facilities include Helmar Building Materials, Laprivad Nigeria Limited, Innocast Nigeria Limited, Body Language Shipping and Cargo, Laodo Control Jetty, Adaps Nigeria Limited, Kehdi Equipments Limited, Bulus Hotel, Park Inn Hotel, Mandarin Supermarket, Hamada Enterprises and Infinity Pirelli Tyres.
LASEPA said the enforcement action demonstrates its commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring strict compliance with environmental regulations across Lagos State.
The agency’s General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed that environmental compliance remains a top priority.
“LASEPA will sustain monitoring, compliance enforcement and implementation of environmental regulations across Lagos State,” Ajayi said.
He described environmental protection as a shared responsibility and warned that businesses whose operations threaten public health or degrade the environment would continue to face regulatory sanctions.
Ajayi urged operators to adopt environmentally sustainable practices and comply with all regulatory requirements, while encouraging residents to support efforts aimed at building a cleaner, healthier and pollution-free Lagos.
