NYSC Makes NERD Clearance Mandatory for 2026 Batch ‘B’ Mobilisation

ABUJA, Nigeria – The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has introduced National Electronic Registration Database (NERD) clearance as a compulsory requirement for mobilisation, warning that prospective corps members who fail to complete the verification process will not participate in the 2026 Batch ‘B’ orientation exercise.
The scheme announced the directive in a public notice published Monday on its official X platform, urging eligible graduates to obtain their clearance early to avoid delays in mobilisation.
According to NYSC, the new verification requirement forms part of efforts to strengthen the integrity of the mobilisation process and ensure that only duly verified graduates are enrolled for national service.
“This is to inform Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) that without NERD clearance, no NYSC. Get your NERD clearance early. Avoid delays in your mobilisation,” the scheme stated.
The agency further emphasised that the requirement is mandatory for every eligible graduate.
“NERD clearance is compulsory for all PCMs. No NERD clearance, No NYSC!!!”
Although the scheme did not provide detailed procedures for obtaining the clearance, education stakeholders say the measure is expected to tighten graduate verification and reduce cases of irregular mobilisation.
The announcement comes as NYSC intensifies preparations for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ service year, with tertiary institutions already processing mobilisation documents for eligible graduates nationwide.
It also follows the scheme’s recent safety advisory urging prospective corps members to avoid travelling at night to orientation camps and instead break their journeys at safe locations, including military formations and other approved security facilities where necessary.
The NYSC advised prospective corps members to complete every stage of registration and verification well ahead of the orientation programme to avoid last-minute complications that could affect mobilisation.
