OTA, Ogun State, Nigeria – A free medical outreach has provided medical consultations, disease screening, treatment and essential medicines to more than 1,500 residents of Ota and neighbouring communities in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, expanding access to healthcare for underserved populations.
The one-day free medical outreach, organised by Omooba Boluwatife Adeyanju in collaboration with the palace of the Olota of Ota, took place on Thursday at Oba Isiyemi Hall in the Olota’s Palace.
The programme offered free medical consultations, health screenings, treatment and essential drugs to market women, artisans, students, elderly residents and other members of the community.
A team of physicians, nurses, pharmacists and health educators screened participants for hypertension, diabetes, malaria and other common illnesses while providing education on nutrition, hygiene and preventive healthcare.
Speaking during the outreach, Adeyanju says the initiative is designed to bridge healthcare gaps by bringing medical services closer to people who cannot afford routine hospital care.
“Today is about service and dignity. We attended to mothers, fathers and young people who have not seen a doctor in years. Health should never be a privilege. Our goal was simple; to examine them, provide treatment where necessary and ensure they returned home healthier,” he says.
Adeyanju also thanked the Olota of Ota and the palace for supporting the initiative, describing the partnership as critical to improving community health.
He later encourages residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and support Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, citing what he describes as the senator’s contributions to infrastructure, education, healthcare and youth empowerment across Ogun West.
Speaking on behalf of the Olota’s Palace, Prince Olusesi commends Adeyanju for his continued investment in community development and urges other philanthropists to support similar grassroots healthcare interventions.
Government officials and political stakeholders, including the Ogun State Governor’s Special Adviser on Youth Development, Olamide Lawal, APC House of Assembly candidate Okikiola Olundegun, former lawmaker Nurudeen Aina Akinpelu and Senior Special Assistant on Housing, Segun Ojolowo-Ojuko, describe the outreach as a valuable complement to government healthcare efforts.
