ABUJA, Nigeria – The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has strengthened collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force to ensure safer learning environments for children across the country.
UBEC hosted Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke on Monday to discuss joint strategies for school security. “We know that giving every Nigerian child access to quality basic education is not something we can achieve alone,” said UBEC Executive Secretary Dr Aisha Garba. “It requires collaboration, shared commitment, and strong partnerships across institutions. That is why your visit today is especially meaningful.”
Dr Garba emphasised that school safety remains a top priority. “No parent should ever have to worry about whether their child will return home safely from school. By working closely with the Nigerian Air Force, we can better protect our schools, reassure parents, and create environments where our children can learn without fear,” she said.
The partnership will focus on intelligence sharing, rapid response mechanisms, and advocacy to prevent attacks on schools, ensuring that children can attend classes without fear. Dr Garba commended the Air Force for its discipline and service, pledging UBEC’s full commitment to sustained collaboration that supports peace and development through education.
