President Bola Tinubu
ABUJA, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu vows that his administration will defeat banditry and terrorism, assuring Nigerians that security forces are intensifying operations nationwide.
The President speaks on Wednesday night at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, while receiving leaders of the Ogbia community of Bayelsa State, amid persistent security challenges in parts of the North-West, North-East and North-Central regions. “We are prosecuting them. We are arresting them. We are neutralising some of them,” Tinubu says.
“The men and women of our armed forces are fighting very hard to bring peace and stability, and we will win.”
He acknowledges longstanding challenges but insists the government remains focused on restoring national security.
Beyond security, Tinubu reaffirms his administration’s commitment to Niger Delta development, pledging continued investment in infrastructure and social services.
He praises the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) under Managing Director Dr Samuel Ogbuku, saying the region must no longer suffer neglect. “We have not done well in the past to cater for the goose that lays the golden egg,” Tinubu says. “But now, we have the opportunity, and we will not let you down.”
Responding to community requests, the President promises action on erosion control and infrastructure projects, including a proposed bridge to boost regional economic growth.
He also calls for legislative cooperation to accelerate development, noting that Nigeria’s economy has “turned the corner” and must now deliver tangible relief to ordinary citizens.
