Nigeria President, Bola Tinubu
ABUJA, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu launches a special fund to support wounded soldiers and families of fallen military personnel.
The initiative, announced on his 74th birthday, includes a directive to the Accountant-General to establish a dedicated account.
“This is not charity. It is duty,” Tinubu says, pledging personal contributions.
He on Sunday confirmed all his salaries since assuming office will serve as seed funding for the scheme.
The fund aims to provide financial support to injured personnel and dependents of those killed in service.
Tinubu calls on governors, lawmakers, and private sector stakeholders to support the initiative.
“We must never forget those who stand in harm’s way for our peace,” he adds.
The announcement underscores efforts to strengthen welfare for Nigeria’s armed forces amid ongoing security challenges.
