Newly appointed Nigerian Permanent Secretaries
ABUJA, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of five new Permanent Secretaries into the federal civil service, following what officials described as a thorough merit-based selection exercise.
The appointments, announced on Monday, are intended to strengthen efficiency, accountability, and delivery across government ministries and agencies.
The new appointees are Ibrahim Abdulkarim Ozi (Federal Capital Territory), Ezemama John Chidiebere (Imo), Garba Abdul Sule Usman (North Central), Mohammed Musa Ishiyaku (Northeast), and Ukaire Binyerem Chigbowu (Southeast).
Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Didi Esther Walson-Jack, congratulated the new officials in an official statement. She said the process reflected the administration’s determination to elevate only individuals with proven competence and integrity.
“These appointments reflect the administration’s dedication to fostering a competent and responsive public service that meets the needs of Nigerians,” she stated.
Walson-Jack noted that the move supports an ongoing push to restructure the civil service for better service delivery, policy implementation, and performance measurement.
The Presidency also highlighted the strategic regional spread of the appointments, describing it as part of efforts to ensure representation, cohesion, and balanced leadership distribution within the federal bureaucracy.
The new Permanent Secretaries are expected to assume duty immediately.
