ABUJA, Nigeria – The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will interrupt power supply for about 20 minutes in parts of Suleja and surrounding areas on Saturday, September 26, to carry out preventive maintenance on transmission equipment.
The maintenance is scheduled to take place between 1pm and 4pm on the Gwarinpa–Suleja 132/33kV Line 2 bay switchgear and associated equipment.
TCN said customers of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and surrounding areas would be affected by the brief interruption.
The company said the outage would enable engineers to transfer load from Gwarinpa–Suleja Line 2 to Kubwa–Suleja Line 1 before carrying out the maintenance.
According to TCN, the arrangement is intended to allow the work to proceed safely without causing a prolonged power outage. “Consequently, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will experience a 20-minute interruption of power supply only to customers in Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and environs,” the company said.
TCN said the maintenance formed part of its annual preventive maintenance programme aimed at maintaining the reliability of the transmission network.
The company apologised to affected consumers for the inconvenience and said the interruption was necessary to facilitate the maintenance exercise.
The planned work follows TCN’s broader maintenance activities on transmission infrastructure serving the Abuja-Suleja corridor.
