Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu
LAGOS, Nigeria – Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu pledges an accelerated infrastructure drive in his final full year in office, promising statewide delivery of flagship projects under the THEMES+ agenda to deepen growth, equity and resilience.
Speaking at the 2026 Lagos Annual Thanksgiving Service at Tafawa Balewa Square, Sanwo-Olu says the administration prioritises completion and commissioning across transport, health, education, housing, water, justice and environmental management.
The programme aligns with the proposed 2026 budget—The Budget of Shared Prosperity—currently before the House of Assembly, with planned spending above ₦4 trillion.
The governor says the budget centres on people-first investments, modern infrastructure, economic expansion and efficient governance to build a safer, fairer Lagos. Residents stand to benefit from improved roads and bridges, upgraded schools and hospitals, youth recreation spaces, flood-control works, transport interchanges, housing estates, water systems, recycling plants, judicial facilities and the Omi Eko regeneration initiative.
Reviewing progress, Sanwo-Olu lists near-term completions including Ojo General Hospital, Odo Iya-Alaro Link Bridge, Massey Children’s Hospital, Epe Central Food Security and Logistics Hub, a psychiatric centre in Ketu Ereyun, and a multi-storey administrative complex in Alausa.
“We are now four days into a new year, with 361 days ahead—each filled with promise and opportunity,” he says. “Under my leadership, we will consolidate gains and deliver transformational projects across sectors.”
He adds: “2026 is my last full year as governor. I am driven to make it count—deliberately and decisively—for the benefit of all Lagosians.”
