LAGOS, Nigeria – A health advocate calls for a nationwide shift to preventive healthcare, urging Nigerians to adopt healthier lifestyles and prioritise early screening to reduce non-communicable diseases.
Lorenz Mba made the call on Wednesday during a public health walk marking a community initiative in Lagos.
“Many life-threatening conditions show no early symptoms. Regular checks are critical,” he says.
Mba warns that late diagnosis increases mortality and treatment costs, pushing families into hardship. He highlights walking, proper nutrition, hydration, and sleep as cost-effective preventive measures.
He also raises concerns about low awareness of men’s health issues.
“Men’s health challenges have wider social and emotional impacts,” he adds.
The event includes free screenings to promote early detection and reinforce routine health checks.
